Turning plastic problems into solutions

Beat plastic pollution – that’s the message the United Nations is pushing as the world recognizes World Environment Day June 5. Schreiber joins this global call not only with words, but with actions. We know that plastic is a material that has enabled extraordinary advances in food safety, preservation, logistics and waste reduction. Its value lies in how we use, recycle and rethink it.

Here are some of the ways we’re working to be part of the solution at our plants in Spain:

Promoting circular economy initiatives so that packaging has more than one useful life. Our polystyrene (PS) yogurt pack packaging in Spain contains 10% recycled polystyrene from our industrial waste. Additionally, our polyethylene terephthalate (PET) liquid yogurt bottles contain more than 30% recycled plastic.

Designing with sustainability criteria and always aligned with European regulations and the highest food safety standards.

Through our alliances in Spain and France, we’re working with other sector actors, recyclers, and converters to improve the collection, sorting, and circularity of plastic. In Spain, we are integrated with other yogurt manufacturers in the Alliance for PS Circularity to ensure the recycling of this material to incorporate it into our packaging. Coinciding with this important day, we want to share that today the fourth edition of the National Congress of Plastic Recycling is being held, organized by Anarpla, and our Alliance has been awarded for its work in promoting PS circularity.

Our purpose is clear: Doing good through food. And that also means taking care of the Earth, our resources and the future.
